As you can guess, this pastel painting was done from a photograph I took at the San Antonio Zoo.  If you are wondering what pastels are, read on.  A pastel stick is made of pure pigment with minimal binder.  Pastels are a dry, immediate, and vibrant medium to paint with.  If handled and framed properly, they rarely lose their vibrancy.
