This pastel painting is done from a photo I took while my husband and I were hiking along Avalanche Creek in Glacier National Park. Actually, we stepped off the path to see the rushing water. Also, if you are unfamiliar with pastels, read on. The pastel sticks are made of pure pigment with minimal binder. They are an immediate, dry, and vibrant medium for painting. With proper handling and framing, that vibrancy rarely lessens.
