Chauncey Olcott Tenor and Actor antique cabinet photo

This photo is in excellent condition with no dramatic folds, tears, stains or marks. Please see listing photos for condition.

It is a classic "cabinet photo" (6.5" x 4.25" including the backing), replacing the "carte-de-visite", which was smaller.

Chauncey Olcott was a popular Irish-American actor, singer and songwriter of the 1880s thru 1920s. He wrote all the Irish songs I know - When Irish Eyes Are Smiling, Mother Machree, Too-Ra-Loo-Ra-Loo-Ral, My Wild Irish Rose... In a 1947 movie about his life, "My Wild Irish Rose",  Olcott was played by Dennis Morgan.

This photo was found among other photos and memorabilia related to The Mulford & Son cigar factory, which in the early 1900s was next door to my wife's family funeral parlor and furniture store in upstate New York. Olcott, after vehemently denying in a newspaper interview that he would ever endorse a cigar, endorsed a Mulford & Son cigar in approximately 1912.
