This abridgment focuses on the North American birds most likely to be seen and features an informative introduction, and illustrated descriptions. Roger Tory Peterson, one of the world's greatest naturalists, received every major award for ornithology, natural science, and conservation as well as numerous honorary degrees, medals, and citations, including the Presidential Medal of Freedom. The Peterson Identification System has been called the greatest invention since binoculars.
An essential book for anyone curious about the birds that visit outside their window or on the trail (convenient pocket size at 7”x4”). As a beginners guide, it offers the perfect amount of information to quickly identify birds. The outstanding lifelike illustrations and precise colors make it easy for finding a positive match. I have nearly wore this book out as it is more convenient and quick to flip through the 128 pages (1/4” thick) to identify birds versus searching the web. I never expected to have knowledge of birds, as I do now. I owe it all to this great little book.
