This is a vintage history book with a difference. It covers the French kings from Philip of Burgundy to Henry 4th (14th to 16th centuries). The difference is that the author wrote it at the request of some children-friends, and it is intended to amuse more than instruct. It was hoped that it would whet young people's interest enough to seek out more detailed French histories. 350 pages. Small bookstore label on the ffep. Gilt top page edges. Bumped cover corners, which somewhat affect a few page corners; paper is slit at the spine at pp. 144-45, but binding is secure; slight wear at spine ends; minor page edge bumping; a little foxing, mainly on end papers. Generally, book is in nice shape. Scarce British title.
