Portrait of Bertie Van Geerde
From a recently purchased estate collection of Black American portraits, an original cabinet card portrait of Bertie Van Geerke, a handsome, dapperly dressed man from Suriname. The inscription on the back reads "Bertie Van Geerke 5 feet - 9 inches Age 26 years The different between Suriname and U. S. America."
The image is 6 x 4 inches and is attached to an ornate floral patterned matte board, 9.75 x 6.25. Albumen photo, sepia toned. The photographer is Weintrub Studios of Atlantic City, NJ.
I could not find information directly related to 'Bertie Van Geerke', but there is a distinguished family of Surinamese musicians who share the surname.
