Antique Large Cabinet-Style Black & White Photograph. Depicting Harriette Smith, daughter of Frank Patterson Smith and Harriette Hoyt Marsh, of Winchester, Massachusetts. Photo by Litchfield Studio. Measures approximately 7.5 x 11 including mount. This photo came from a sizeable collection of Smith family images (listed and sold separately), and while this one does not include her name, others verify her identity. Condition: This is an original photograph, not a copy or reproduction. The photo has noticeable foxing (age browning) most obvious on her lower dress. Comments: An online genealogy search reveals Harriette was born circa 1904. She was living with her family in Winchester, Massachusetts in the 1910 US Census. She was the daughter of Frank Patterson Smith (born October 10, 1870 in Lauren, Maryland; and died April 12, 1943) and Harriette Hoyt Marsh (born May 25, 1870 in New Hampshire, and died October 9, 1947). Frank Patterson Smith was a well-known architect who designed many of the elite homes in Winchester, Massachusetts as well as Winchester's Episcopal Church of the Epiphany, and the country club. Harriette was known to be a teacher at the Beverly, Massachusetts School for the Deaf between September, 1926 and June, 1929. She had two other sisters including Constance Smith (born circa 1897) and Cornelia Mary Smith Moore (born June 8, 1906, m. William James Moore, died June 21, 1998 in Florida), and a brother Oliver Van Patten Smith. Oliver was born December 8, 1898 in Winchester, Massachusetts. He was married to Gertrude Rachel Daniels (born May 28, 1900 in Plainfield, New Hampshire; and died in 1929.) Oliver was a 1920 graduate of Harvard University. We will be providing some photocopies of our research with purchase. Other photos of Oliver, his father Frank Patterson Smith, his sister Cornelia Mary Smith, his sister Harriette, and Frank Patterson Smith 2nd (the son of Oliver and Gertrude, born circa 1926) are listed and sold separately.
