You can attach them to a porch or structure with the INCLUDED mounting bracket & let your dog roam a bit without going too far (screws not included, as different applications require different hardware) Each leash includes the bracket

You can take on with you to the park or wherever & easily attach the leash to a pole/post, tree, picnic table, etc. by passing the snap hook through the D ring on the other end, & let the furry friend have a little space without wandering off, giving you a free hand without having to be connected all the time

 Or, once in a while, you may want a long leash to let them get out a little further, play in the water, or whatever

 I always keep one in the car for times when it may be socially unacceptable to let my dog off leash, but want to give her a little more space than a shorter leash
