Vintage Somayaki Soma Wear Mug  Cup 3.25"  RARE Celadon 7 oz

 This beautiful celadon green  cup is from the Somayaki region of Japan.  That region was badly damaged by the earthquake. 

This is a classic design with the golden running horse and the cutouts that I thought were hearts...but they are the feet of cranes.  Very good luck.   The Hashirigoma, or gold galloping horse motif inside the cup is fadded.  This double walled cup will hold heat and be cool on the outside.  I think that this would be great for coffee...or for tea....    The celedon is glaze is crackled.  Stackable.  This is a treasure.     All handmade...each one slightly different....These are vintage...so there is some wear on the gold rim and on the horse in the center.      Preloved...but this mug looks great to me.
