IOLA SPOON TRAY
American Brilliant Cut Glass by
Libbey
1896 - 1906
Marked with Libbey, disconnected L & Y, Sabre
Great little cut glass tray, identified as IOLA. Unusual size, measures 7 1/2" long x 1 3/4" tall
Not a typical piece, this has no hobstars to it but is filled with amazing cuts of tiny hobnails, filled kites, notching and miter cuts. The small cuts are in perfect "tune" with the overall size of the tray.
Listed in Libbey's catalog as follows:
617, Spoon Tray, Iola
As with most pieces of cut glass from this period, there may be some minor flea bites or nicks to the edges or underside. If they are readily seen, I will call them out:
There are 2 nicks & a flake. Both nicks are very small, both are located on either side on the center, high points of the rim. One tooth has a flake that starts on the outer surface of a tooth and extends to the top of the tooth and barely changes the overall shape of the tooth.
Overall very good condition with no scratch marks.
As with most pieces of cut glass from this period, there may be some chips to the edges or underside. If they are readily seen, I will point them out or picture them for your review.
Nothing compares to the beauty of Antique American Brilliant Period Cut Crystal!
