Indianapolis Motor Speedway - Brickyard 400 Inaugural Race - August 6, 1994 - Giant Banner – Collectible

This giant and  authentic racing banner from the  1994 - Indianapolis Motor Speedway - Brickyard 400 Inaugural Race - August 6, 1994 is extremely rare. This collectible  Measures 62 x 35 Inches and is made of - Polyester & Nylon with brass Grommets in each corner. As a collectible it works on my dimensions: for fans, and for body shop owners, garage owners and after market auto sales shops this would be a real coup to have and dsiplay. It's like new, never used.

The history of this inugural race is that it was held on August 6th, 1994. It was the first  NASCAR event held at Indianapolis. A record crowd of a quarter million attended. Truly, it was a remarkable and historic event and now you can own an authentic part of that history.   In making your decision please remeber that at checkout you will receive a 20 percent discount as our special gift to you.

" CHEVROLET SUPPLIED 137 SUPPORT VEHICLES FOR THE RACE, INCLUDING THE NEW-FOR-1994 MONTE CARLO THAT WOULD SERVE AS THE PACE CAR. TWENTY –FIVE 1994 CORVETTE CONVERTIBLES (13 RED, 12 BLACK) WERE USED AS PARADE OR FESTIVAL CARS.  THE CORVETTES WERE MAINLY USED TO INTRODUCE THE 43 NASCAR DRIVERS IN A PARADE LAP AROUND THE TRACK. MOST OF THEM CARRIED TWO DRIVERS, WHO SAT ON THE DECK-LIDS AND WAVED TO FANS IN THE GRANDSTANDS DURING THE PARADE LAP.  IN ANOTHER PART OF THE PRERACE FESTIVITIES, THE CORVETTES WOULD PARADE VIPS INCLUDING RICHARD PETTY, BOBBY ALLISON AND THE INDIANAPOLIS MAYOR PLUS MAJOR SPONSORS AROUND THE TRACK.
THE CORVETTES WERE SHIPPED DIRECTLY FROM THE BOWLING GREEN ASSEMBLEY PLANT TO THE GM TECH CENTER IN WAREN MICHIGAN. IT HAS BEEN CONFIRMED THAT THE MONTE CARLOS WERE ALSO SENT TO THE TECH CENTER AND RECEIVED 30 HORSEPOWER BOOST OVER THE STANDARD MONTE CARLO.  NO FACTS WERE EVER OFFICALLY DISCLOSED ABOUT THE MODAFACTIONS MADE TO THE CORVETTES. HOWEVER RUMOR HAS IT THAT EXPERIMENTING WITH SOME MINOR TWEAKS WOULD GENERATE MORE HORSEPOWER FOR GMS NEW LT4 WHICH DID DEBUT IN THE 1996 CORVETTE. IT WAS CALLED THE GRAND SPORT. THE GRAND SPORT HAD A 30 HORSEPOWER GAIN OVER THE STANDARD CORVETTE.  TWO OF THE CORVETTES HAD THEIR BRICKYARD DECALS APPLIED AT THE TECH CENTER AND WERE EVALUATED BY CHEVROLETS EXECUTIVES, THEN TRANSPORTED TO INDIANAPLOLIS. THE REMAINING 23 HAD DECALS APPLIED AT CHEVROLET DEALERSHIPS IN THE INDIANAPOLIS AREA.
ONCE THE CARS WERE AT THE TRACK, THEY WERE ASSIGNED INDIANAPLOIS MOTOR SPEEDWAY NUMBERS IN SOMEWHAT RANDOM FASHION. MOST OF THE NUMBERS RANGED IN THE 70’S AND 80’S.  A DECAL INDICATING THE NUMBER OF EACH CAR WAS APPLIED TO THE LOWER WINDSHIELD ON THE DRIVERS SIDE.
TWENTY-TWO CORVETTES PARADED THE DRIVERS ACCORDING TO STARTING POSTIONS. TWENTY-ONE OF THE CARS WERE GIVEN TWO NASCAR DRIVERS EACH, AND DECALS OF THEIR NAMES WERE APPLIED ON THE HOODS OF THAT PARTICULAR CAR. SINCE NASCAR STARTS AN ODD NUMBER OF CARS AT EACH RACE, ONE CAR WAS ASSIGNED A SINGLE NASCAR DRIVER.  THE REMAINING THREE {TWO RED, ONE BLACK} HAD NO NAMES BUT WERE USED IN THE VIP PARADE.
AFTER THE RACE, THE CARS WERE SENT BACK TO THE GM TECH CENTER FOR EVALUATION AND THEN DISTRIBUTED TO DEALERSHIPS FOR SALE TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC.  SOME DEALERSSHIPS TO FACILITATE EASIER SALES, REMOVED THEIR BRICKYARD DECALS AND WERE SOLD AS ORDINARY 1994 CORVETTE MODELS.  IT MAY WELL BE THAT SOME OWNERS OF THESE CORVETTES HAVE NO IDEA OF THEIR UNIQUE HISTORY.
THERE ARE SEVERAL CLUES TO IDENTIFY A BRICKYARD 400 CORVETTE. ALL WERE CONVERTIBLES, EITHER RED WITH RED INTERIOR OR BLACK WITH BLACK INTERIOR WITH A BUILD DATE ON JUNE OF 1994. BUILD SHEETS OF MOST KNOW CARS HAVE A “CHARGE-TO” CODE OF 00-502 {NAO CVO-TECH. CENTER} AND A” SHIP-TO” CODE OF 70-847 {C-P-C GROUP C/O QUAL-EFFIC INC.}.  THE CARS ARE ALSO IDENTIFIABLE BY VIN THROUGH THE INDY MUSEUM HISTORIAN AS WELL AS BY THE COMPANY THAT SUPPLIED THE ORGINAL BRICKYARD GRAPHICS FOR THE CARS.

Please read these revised notes:

For significant savings be sure to take advantage of any discount coupons that appear at checkout.

Offers are encouraged and welcomed however, Bonanza, by default, will not include the item’s shipping in any offer you make. Please keep this in mind. In any event, we’ll remind you of this when reviewing your offer.

Free shipping will apply on select items.  It’s a “catchy phrase” but we won’t use it to “snare” you into paying more for an item than you should with inflated prices.

Feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns you might have; we also welcome your comments, expertise, and suggestions. If you have additional information about an item or wish to share your knowledge of a particular item, we’d be delighted to hear from you.

Unless a seller can make a reference to a specific era when describing an item as “vintage” (e.g. vintage 1930’s hat) it’s useless prattle. We use the term sparingly, but for those who like it, we’ll throw it in now and then.

We do not use a “standard shipping” rate for books as many dealers do. That term usually means they’ve inflated the shipping charge; this, in turn, marginalizes the bargain you thought you were getting. And speaking of books: The grading system used by many sellers to describe their books can be, despite best efforts and intent, subjective and often disappointing. You’ll only find high quality material here:  most are new or like new. Occasionally, there’s minor shelf wear or a publisher’s remainder mark, but the integrity of the book’s condition is unaltered.
BOOKS THAT ARE NOT RECENTLY PUBLISHED: A book described  as new but published several years ago is a reference to its condition not it’s chronological publishing date. It may have have minor wear from long term storage but otherwise “look like new”.

Books may be returned but only if not as described

In all instances we try to honestly depict and describe our items.  The lighting on some photos may have been enhanced to correct contrast or adjust brightness  to provide a more accurate visual of an item's details and condition since colors may vary due to a monitor settings.
We offer prints made in the “ traditional” way such as serigraphs, stone lithos etc. because they are limited as opposed to reproductions like digital art such as giclees.

FEEDBACK: Most welcomed, but please contact us if you are unhappy with your purchase. We have a return policy and will gladly resolve any issue to your satisfaction. Mind the “knee-jerk” reactions, you may hurt yourself.

REFUNDS: In general: no fuss, and no problem. Items must be returned in the original condition within 10 days of receipt.
Please use caution when unwrapping glass items; best to unpack while over a bed or sofa.

LOSSES AND DAMAGE WHILE IN TRANSIT:   Because losses in transit are almost never recoverable, we self insure. For  items over $100.00 we will purchase insurance for you at no cost. You must notify us of any loss immediately however.
INTERNATIONAL BUYERS PLEASE NOTE: We are very appreciative of our international customers but  regret that we can no longer accept orders that require shipping outside the United States.

We do not do appraisals nor do we purchase unsolicited items; we will, however, consider consignments. Similarly, please don’t ask us to research an item for you or to opine about an item you may have that is similar; we are not appraisers nor do we have unlimited expertise.

Please be sure you have read these statements and only purchase if you agree with them
