Appliance Manufacturing Memorabilia

This is a great old piece of advertising memorabilia from The Globe Stove & Range Company in Kokomo, Indiana. The company was founded in 1872 by William Fisher. During WWI there was a stop to the manufacturing of stoves and the company almost went out of business. It was renamed Globe American Corporation. The company shut down in 1957. This printing press stamp or copper on wood block would be pre World War I for sure. I have included a picture inset of a similar stove without legs that was in the May 1914 Armco Bulletin. I'm guessing this plate was also made around that time or earlier.

The image is in reverse so that when printed it comes out as normal view. I have reversed the image in the close up photos so you can see what it would read and look like if it was used to print. The image is of an old stove with The Globe Stove & Range Co Kokomo Ind” in the box at the bottom and “Kajif Globe” in the center. The top has “GLOBE” and the logos beneath it. It measures 3 3/8 inches tall and 2 3/4 inches wide. The block is 1 inch deep.

The stamp is made of copper mounted onto a block of wood. I have taken many enlarged photographs so you can see the condition for yourself. Please look at the pictures as they are part of the description. There is some wear to the plate, scratches and some tarnishing. I have not cleaned or polished it, I will leave that up to you, it has a great old patina to the metal as is.

This would make a great gift to anyone who owns an old stove or collects advertising memorabilia or printing plates.
