Box measures 4-3/8" X 7". Completed jigsaw puzzle is to measure 7" X 10-1/2" when completed -- over 115 pieces -- Springbok Editions #2001ZL4533, published by Hallmark Cards (MO).
This parody jigsaw puzzle of the 1968 STANLEY KUBRICK film "2001 : A SPACE ODYSSEY" is STILL SEALED & UNOPENED. It was purchased at WaldenBooks at some point in the late 1960s or early 1970s, and the original suggested retail price was $2.00. The cover is intended to show a FRISBEE (or, in this case, a "WHAM-Y FREEBEE OFFICIAL PRO MODEL") taking off from the space station. The quality of my photos is, unfortunately, not very good, since the plastic seal around the box has constricted over the years, resulting in both the front & rear covers of the box becoming concave, and the box edges on both sides expanding outwards. So, while this item is definitely "new", it is showing the results of about 50 years of plastic shrinkage.
The front cover is also a parody of a Dell paperback cover (in this case, a "DILL" paperback -- with a PICKLE logo!); and the author is attributed as BRAD BLUEBERRY (a play on the name of science fiction writer RAY BRADBURY, who actually had very little to do with either the Kubrick film, or the ARTHUR C. CLARKE novel upon which the film was based). The back cover is another humorous parody of the original film, as well as a silly tribute to the imaginary author. A fun addition to any collection of 2001 : A SPACE ODYSSEY items!
