Description

~1905
Detroit Publishing Co. Postcard

#7988 Main Rooms, Hopi House,
Grand Canyon of Arizona

Original ~1905 postcard of a internal scene of a Hopi house in Grand Canyon, Arizona. The Detroit Photographic Company was launched as a photographic publishing firm in the late 1890s by Detroit businessman William A. Livingstone, Jr., and photographer Edwin H. Husher. The company obtained the exclusive rights to use the Swiss "Photochrom" process, a technique that used lithographic stones to convert black-and-white prints to color. The process allowed the company to mass-produce color postcards that were of unusually high quality. The company changed it's name to Detroit Publishing Company in 1905.

Undivided back, postally unused. Please see the other Native American postcards I have listed.
