Novelty Knives Novelty Cutlery Co.; Extremely rare original ~1890s 28-page illustrated catalog of novelty knives from the Novelty Cutlery Company of Canton, OH. This company, owned by Civil War veteran Major Augustus Vignos, was the first business to offer high quality personalized or advertising knives before the turn of the century and featured a process through which photographs could be incorporated into the knife handles. No date of publication but some of the knifes shown have dates, the most recent being 1892. 7.55" x 4.25". 28 pages. Illustrated with steel engravings plus a few photos of the work process. |
