Vintage original 8x10 in. US single-weight glossy photograph from the classic 1930's musical comedy/romance, BROADWAY GONDOLIER, released in 1935 by Warner Bros. and directed by Lloyd Bacon. Dick Purcell (Dick Powell) is an American taxi driver who wants to become a singer promoting cheese products. Oddly, he thinks the way to do it is to become a gondolier from Venice. Along the way, he sings and woos a sassy secretary, Alice (Joan Blondell). The cast includes Adolphe Menjou, Louise Fazenda, William Gargan, George Barbier, Grant Mitchell, Ted Fio Rito, The Mills Brothers, Hobart Cavanaugh, and Joe Sawyer.
The image features an interior shot inside of a ritzy restaurant in Venice, Italy and depicts wealthy Mrs. Flaggenheim (Louise Fazenda) trying to get handsome Ramon (Rafael Alcayde) to talk as her companion, Alice Hughes (Joan Blondell), looks bored. It is in good- condition only with areas of paper loss in the majority of the borders; several creases in the top half of the image with some smaller creases in the bottom half; and random surface scratches from handling over time. There are no pinholes, tears, writing, or other flaws.
