Very unique purple flowers are one of the first perennials to bloom in the spring. In addition to beautiful, early bloom, other desirable qualities are it's height (6 - 12 inches), ability to grow in dry soils, the attractive furry leaves that remain well into the summer, and even the silvery plume-like seed head. Hardy zones 4-10. Calcareous which means it prefers an alkaline soil but can be grown in non-alkaline soil. Anemones establish nicely from flower seed and are long-lived and easy to care for. Can be sown indoors in winter, outdoors in spring or fall. It is recommended that seeds be refrigerated for 3 weeks before sowing. Makes a perfect cut flower. Likes afternoon shade especially in hotter summer climates.
