This penstemon blue spring is easily grown from seed. Is a perennial with upright stems, quite large electric blue to violet, trumpet shaped flowers. This has not only wonderful flowers, but has lovely, glossy foliage that is evergreen. It may or may not bloom the first year, but then, good things come to those who wait in the world or rare plants. Can be started in fall to assure blooms for the following spring. Also can be started indoors in winter, outdoors in spring and summer. Likes coarse or sandy, non fertile soil and dry areas in full sun/partial shade. Rock gardens and containers are ideal. Will bloom late spring thru summer in most areas. Grows 9-12 inches tall.
