Byron Gentry (1913-1992) was a renowned football player who played championship teams at the Rose Bowl twice, and for the Pittsburgh Pirates from 1937-39. In 1960 he was named a member of the All-Time Pittsburgh Steeler Team. He was a decorated captain during WWII, and later became state and national commander of Veterans of Foreign Wars. Later he became a City Prosecutor and then a defense attorney. The author offers a delightful memoir about these things. Nearly fine plus in orange linen with black embossed illustrations of footballs, a law book, a gavel, and a bomb to the front cover and with black embossed titles to the spine; in an about very good dust jacket with a couple of abrasive scratches, a small chip and a five-inch half-circle tear to the upper front panel, a tiny chip to the spine panel and nicks and short tears to the upper and lower spine edges; original $4.95 price still intact to the front inner flap.
