MR. JUSTICE RAFFLES
by E.W. Hornung New York: Charles Scribner's sons, 1909. First U.S. edition. Dark green cloth with gilt spine titles and a small mask device in black; cover titles in orange with an orange and black illustration framed in a diamond pattern. Contemporary ownership signature to the front endpaper, minor wear to the crown and heel of the spine, else a near fine, sharp copy; lacking the rare dust jacket. The three previous Raffles books were short story collections, in this full-length novel, the last in Hornung's four Raffles books which had begun with The Amateur Cracksman (1899), we see the well-known cricketer and gentleman thief administering his own kind of justice.
