Light blue cloth with dark blue endpapers with a white silhouette of a ship to the center, faded green top edge coloring; in the original illustrated dust jacket.

Mild fading to the extremities of the covers, else a very good copy; in a worn, good only dust jacket missing a square patch from the center of the spine, chipping to the extremities and spine ends, and age-toning to the rear panel.
The text is clean and still fresh and white.
Correct first edition with the front flap of the dust jacket priced $2.75 and no book club "dot" to the lower rear cover of the book.
The film Wake of the Red Witch (1948) directed by Edward Ludwig and starring John Wayne, Gail Russell, Gig Young, Adele Mara, and Luther Adler was based upon this novel.
Somewhat scarce in the true first edition.
