This is an original hand-written ledger showing the local tax records for Spring Township, Berks County, PA from 1879 to 1887.  It is listed as a school tax and lists 4 categories for each year taxed: Real Estate (people who owned property), New Residents (recently moved into the township), Tenants (renters), and Singlemen.  Each lists the taxable with full name and amount taxed.  Records include the entire township as well as Sinking Spring.

Condition:
1879-1887, 250+ pages (Records end on pg 234, remaining pages are blank).  Hard cover, 6 3/4" x 15 1/2".  Overall condition is very good.  Covers have some minor wear, inside has extra writing and notes in a few places including back inside cover.
