Both books are:
  • Clean, in Very Good Condition (all material defects are pictured and summarized below)
  • Not Book Club Editions, and are Not Ex-Library copies 
  • Free of any remainder marks
  • Free of any internal and external markings
  • Free of any previous ownership markings 
  • Free of any unpleasant odors
Attributes:
  • Sound bindings and boards
  • Clean, mark free pages
  • Generally clean page edges, free of any material soiling and free of foxing
  • Fore page edges of both books have a premium rough deckle cut
  • Unclipped dust jackets, both showing prices 
  • Scandal has clean, mark free gold endpapers (Chronicle has clean mark free blank white endpapers)
Notable Flaws: (please also see pictures provided)
  • Chronicle's dust jacket show light to moderate wear, with chips to corners and notable wear to spine panel and is somewhat "loose fitting" 
  • Chronicle has a retail book sticker (Newbegin's, San Francisco) on inside of back board at rear flap
  • Chronicle has a very faint small stamp on bottom of rear flap (a date of April 10, 1957)
  • Scandal has a small light smudge/area of discoloration near bottom right corner of front panel of dust jacket 
  • Both books have light customary uniform age toning to pages and page edges 

As noted, the books are clean and odor free.  Neither dust jacket has been price clipped.  Both books are mark free and in very good condition.  

The notable flaws are summarized above.  All other flaws are minor cosmetic ones.
