Milk Glass Dreams

Milk glass, popularized in the 19th century, is opaque or translucent glass, typically white. It gained prominence in the Victorian era for its resemblance to porcelain. Its origins trace back to ancient Roman and Venetian glassmaking techniques. Today, it remains prized for its vintage charm and collectibility.

Some of the earliest manufacturers of milk glass include the Boston & Sandwich Glass Company, founded in 1825, and the Hobbs, Brockunier and Company, which began producing milk glass in the 1840s. These companies helped popularize milk glass in the United States.

Westmoreland Glass Company, Indiana Glass Company, Fenton Art Glass Company, and Anchor Hocking Glass Corporation produced a wide range of milk glass items, from tableware to decorative pieces, contributing to its popularity during the mid-20th century.

Even big names like Avon and McDonalds used milk glass!
