Blenko Glass Company, founded in 1921 by Walter Scott Blenko in Milton, West Virginia, is renowned for its distinctive hand-blown glass creations. Initially established to produce affordable, utilitarian glassware, Blenko's design focus shifted in the 1950s under the direction of artist and designer Wayne Husted, who introduced bold colors and innovative forms that would define the company's mid-century modern aesthetic.
This period saw the creation of iconic glass pieces like vibrant vases and striking decanters, which captured the spirit of the era’s design revolution.
Today, Blenko Glass continues to produce hand-crafted glassware, celebrated for its craftsmanship and artistic legacy, with pieces collected by enthusiasts and displayed in museums across the United States.
One of my favorite Blenko pieces are the bookends - they’re fun, colorful and unique.
With a quick search you’ll find a bounty of Blenko pieces here on Bonanza. Here are a few of my favorite, non-bookends.
